Jamaican cuisine is a combination of cooking methods, tastes, spices and influences from the natives of the island. It also includes those of the Spanish, British, Africans Indians and Chisese who live there. Crops introduced into the island from Southeast Asia have also had a major influence on Jamaican cuisine.

Jamaican cuisine includes dishes introduced into the island by the various cultures that inhabit the island. There are also dishes that are a fusion of different dishes from multiple cultures, a hybrid so to speak of the cooking, dishes, spieces and crops of these culture.

Jamaica is particularly known for certain dishes such as the curry goat, fried dumplings, ackee and salt fish. Jamaican patties and pastries and breads are also well known around the world. Jamaican fruit beverages and carbonated drinks are equally popular. And lastly Jamaican rum, considered some of the finest in the world.

With emigration and travel Jamaican foods and cooking have travelled far and wide touch millions and creating a taste for island cooking.
